Learn Why Our Team Members Are Excited About Their Work

We're quite proud of the work they do, so let's hear from some of our Inspectors and Regulatory Officers as to why they enjoy their role.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

"I've been with the City for four years. My job is to assist in providing a balance between the needs of parks, wildlife, and the millions of people who visit the Edmonton River Valley each year. As Community Peace Officers, we work to keep the parks safe and enjoyable for people to use through education and enforcement. Along with regular patrols, we may attend community events, visit school classrooms, assist with clean-up efforts in the River Valley, and provide support for major events, like the Heritage Festival and Canada Day festivities."
—Ashley Whitlock, Parks Ranger, Community Services

"My 14 years with the City have been truly satisfying. I am currently working in the Transit Control Centre. On three out of four days, I answer radio calls from Operators who have problems with various things: their patrons, their buses, detours, blockages due to accidents or construction, and so forth. I also dispatch Road Inspectors and resources to any incidents or accidents. On the fourth day, I work on the road at Centennial Garage. My role there is to ensure that service is running on time with minimal delays. We also respond to issues Operators have on the road, and conduct investigations about complaints, collisions and accidents that our buses are involved in."
—Pepito Tabelon, Transit Safety Inspector, Transportation Services

"I have served Edmonton for more than two years. I am a Peace Officer Sergeant, providing leadership and supervision, and have departmental input. This allows me to give direction to my officers and give input on what I think is important to our department."
—Doug Yaceyko, Team Lead/Sergeant, Transportation Services

"Nine years into my career with the City of Edmonton, I am a Municipal Enforcement Officer, which entails being a skilled communicator and working with citizens and businesses in neighbourhoods to increase Edmonton's livability, and to ensure that community standards are maintained through the inspection and enforcement of municipal bylaws. This is done by responding to complaints, conducting investigations, explaining bylaws and legislation to the public, and determining the appropriate enforcement actions. In addition, I've recently been assigned to a section called CORT (Chronic Offender Response Team)."
—Cory Unreiner, Municipal Enforcement Officer, Sustainable Development

"For seven years, I've been working with the City of Edmonton. As a Team Leader with the Community Standards Peace Officer unit, I am responsible for the direct supervision of front-line officers, which includes reviews of investigation files and tickets, payroll approvals, scheduling and investigating complex and sensitive complaints, and coordinating enforcement initiatives in response to emerging issues."
—Dallas Holyroyd, Team Leader, Sustainable Development

"I am a Supervisor of Field Building Inspectors for the Current Planning Department, and have worked with the City of Edmonton for 14 years. At a wedding I attended, someone mentioned that it's a great place to work, and they were right."
